Candlelight March and Rally for Fair Maps

Randallstown NAACP’s Danielle Singley delivering remarks at the Baltimore County Coalition for Fair Maps Candlelight March and Rally, December 7, 2021

Nearly half of the people of Baltimore County are non-white and 30 percent of us are Black, but to protect their own re-elections, the Baltimore County Council is proposing that 6 of 7 districts remain dominated by white majorities & pluralities for the next 10 years–violating the Voting Rights Act and ignoring the many fair maps submitted by ACLU, NAACP and other organizations.

On Tuesday, December 7, voters from across Baltimore County MARCHED and RALLIED to demand FAIR MAPS! We began at the Howard Cooper Lynching Memorial and ended at Millennium Park in Towson, where Will Schwartz from the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project and Shawnte Thompson and Danielle Singley from Randallstown NAACP delivered inspiring remarks. See full recording here. See clip of Danielle Singley’s remarks here.
